Snake Valley Progress Network

27 Jul 2014 by Alec Carson

Is working on a number of projects at the moment, they are:
• Identifying public access to Dawson’s Dam
• Developing the New Resident’s Welcome Packs
• Writing regular articles for the Snake Valley Newsletter
• Finding a place for the CFA Sign
• Participating in the ‘Pyrenees Emergency

Communications – Small Towns Network Project’

Identifying public access to Dawson’s Dam
The Historical Society has been working closely with the Department of Environment and Primary Industries [formally DSE] and has been able to obtain photographs and information outlining the lease area of Chrystal Waters [camp] and the public access area of Dawson’s Dam [lake behind camp], located on the road to Linton.
The Progress Network together with the Historical Society is working towards clearly marked public access to Dawson’s Dam so the community can enjoy this beautiful area of Snake Valley.

Developing New Resident Welcome Packs

The Pyrenees Shire sends out ‘Welcome Packs’ to new residents who are rate payers. The information in the packs is generic, so members of the Progress Network thought it would be an ideal opportunity to add extra information about the groups around Snake Valley; and have the packs available at a couple of places around town so new residents who rent are also able to access the information. Ideas from new residents are most welcome.
Writing regular articles for the Snake Valley Newsletter
Progress Network members are keen to contribute to and support the SV News. At the last meeting members committed to providing regular articles about the activities of their respective group or other things of interest.

Finding a place for the CFA Sign

The CFA have a sign, and they have asked the Progress Network to determine the best position for it to be displayed in the town. There are some constraints with the positioning because of the size of the sign, but the Progress Network gratefully accepted the challenge to find a location for the sign where it can be used to promote events and provide information from local groups to the community.

Snake Valley Progress Network Meetings

At this time we do not have the date for our Progress Network Meeting in August, but it is likely the meetings for the rest of the year will be scheduled at least a week before the SV Newsletter deadline [15th of the month] every month.

The meetings are held at the Royal Hotel @ 6.30pm.
