Pyrenees Shire Council Meeting – July2014
MT EMU WARD UPDATE – Cr Tanya Kehoe
Hi Residents,
Firstly I wish personally to thank everyone sincerely for the condolences given for the passing of my father Geoff Bruty, it has been a very difficult time however we have been honoured by the support and friendship shared with us during this deeply sad time for our family.
The July Council Meeting held at Beaufortsaw proposed changes for Shire Kerbside Waste Collection tabled to improve efficiency however the collection at Snake Valley will remain on a Thursday. The Municipal Early Years Plan 2014-2017 is being displayed on the Shire website for public perusal. This plan was created through funding from the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Suggestions in relation to this plan would be welcomed and can be submitted to the CEO of the shire through the website: www.pyrenees.vic. gov.au The Youth Programs Update Report is also available on the website for those interested in the focus on youth within the Shire. Community grants Round 1 have been allocated and details are available through the Shire website under July Council Meeting: www.pyrenees.vic. gov.au. Please note that any community group or project may apply for these grants. There is a relatively detailed process involved so in order to ensure a successful application please feel free to contact myself or Maria Rice at the Pyrenees Shire.
With the wet weather upon us you may need to notify the shire of any unsafe road conditions this can be done through putting in a CARS (Customer Action Request System) request which can be found on the Pyrenees Shire website: www.pyrenees.vic. gov.au
The Good Food Youth Program held at the Snake Valley Hall over the past few months with an enthusiastic bunch of young people culminated with a bang at a Dinner held at the Hall on Friday . it was a privilege to be a guest at this thoroughly enjoyable evening where the food was exceptional the service impeccable and the entertainment (thanks to the original Snake Valley Youth Crew) was fantastic.

MAG DAM COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT meeting was held on Monday 16th June. I would like to sincerely thank the ongoing committee for the immense amount of work and time they dedicate to this living treasure that is there for all to enjoy. A Tree Planting Day to be held at Mag Dam involving members of the committee and WoadyYalock–Snake Valley campus students will be held on Tuesday 23rd July.
TheSNAKE VALLEY PRODUCE SWAPhas provided a great opportunity for residents to get together to bring their home grown, homemade produce and swap with others. It has been held under the sheltered area of the Snake Valley Hotel and currently is having a short recess until the weather warms up but watch out for upcoming Produce Swap dates.
SKIPTON 175th Anniversary Celebrations are stillin full swing. The successful Skipton Flood Video evening was held on Saturday 14th June at the Skipton Hall. A combined Choral event is one of the next events coming up soon and there are plenty more activities coming up throughout the year.
